SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An incoming storm has been upgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory which is in effect for the Lake Tahoe Basin and Mono County from 4:00 a.m. Monday to 4:00 a.m. Tuesday. The rest of the storms forecast for the area have weakened though, with snowfall amounts greatly reduced.
A series of storms will affect the region starting Saturday night and going through next week. Overall potential impacts have trended lower that previously forecast, except for Monday which will feature strong winds and heavy mountain snows.
Tonight and early Sunday morning will see light snow showers from the Lake Tahoe region up into Northeast California. Snowfall should mainly be a dusting. However an inch of so of accumulation is possible for Sierra passes including Donner, Mt. Rose, Echo, Cedar, and Fredonyer which will result in slick roads according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

1000 people cut off as NSW SES gear up for more bad weather
The NSW SES is gearing up for more bad weather in the week ahead with roughly 1000 people still intermittently isolated on the Mid North Coast.
NSW SES Assistant Commissioner Sean Kearns said that volunteers have been working with local communities to ensure that they have the supplies they need.
“These people are resilient and flood-aware. We have been working with them over the past few days to ensure that they have all the supplies that they need,” said Mr Kearns.
The NSW SES stands ready to help should heavy rain cause already full rivers and creeks to overflow around the Hunter and Mid North Coast. Flood Watch Bulletins have been issued for both Mid North Coast and Hunter District Rivers.

West Texas experienced a severe winter storm with snowfall accumulation of over 24 inches in some areas.
The accumulation of snow, high winds and below freezing temperatures have restricted the ability of stations within Big Bend Sector, which includes territory stretching from Sierra Blanca Station to the west to Sanderson Station in the east along the U.S./Mexico border, to safely patrol and respond to distressed individuals.
